Additional Info About belisakuok
Bio: Relatives include the widespread duckweed, skunk cabbage, calla lily and Jack-in-the-pulpit. During the first stage, carrion beetles drawn by the stench of dying and human-like body temperatures, creep contained in the vase-like structure and unknowingly deposit pollen on the receptive feminine flowers. During the second stage, the construction begins to collapse, the "perfume" fades and the insects begin to head out. As they leave, the beetles rub up towards the pollen in the male flowers and are actually ready to carry the pollen to a close-by feminine flower. Only a handful of those strange Indonesian vegetation bloom annually at public gardens worldwide. SDBG is the only identified garden in the area that grows this exotic species.
